Airbnb · May 2026 This is a lovely cottage in a good location. We played golf at Rosapenna and this was a good option for us. Loads of fun amenities (hot tub, sauna, etc. l). Very quaint and well taken care of.

Airbnb · May 2026 Lovely stay! The sauna and hot tub are incredible. Only tip I’d leave for future guests is this property isn’t directly on the water, it’s about 50 meters away. From the photos it looked like it was a waterfront property but just know that it’s not. Regardless, it’s a relaxing, peaceful place!

Google · May 2026 A trip of a lifetime. The accommodation was excellent, really comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, great shower and epic hot tub. Location worked well with 5-10 minutes drive to downings and Rosapenna. Projector was fab for Whale and the Snail and watching sport.

Airbnb · May 2026 We really enjoyed our stay at Davey Johns Forge. We received a message a few days before with all the details, the directions were accurate and took us right there. All the other amenities were the extra touch. Absolutely pristine inside, with small little nic-nacs to help you feel right at home. The hot tub with the view is the main attraction I believe, however the fact that everything you need is right there is also a bonus! There is more than 1 cabin at the property but the privacy is 10/10! I hope we’ll go back soon, I had the best time! 😁

The highlight was the shower - simply the best I've ever experienced! Would definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to come back again in future.

Google · April 2026 Just returned from a fantastic few days in Donegal staying at Davey Jones Forge. The log cabins were ideal the hot tub and sauna really add to the whole experience. Thank you Shane for the details that you provided the whole experience was easy and straight forward. Lastly this truly is a spectacular part of Ireland the beaches and scenery in the surrounding areas are incredible I highly recommend anyone to visit as I am sure you will return as will we. Airbnb · April 2026 This was our second time visiting Davey Johns Forge’s. Beautiful scenery and very convenient location between two villages. Cabin was spotless and very easy to get to. There’s evident effort of care towards the property. We absolutely loved the hot tub and sauna! And we were delighted that we could bring our dog. We hope to be back again someday soon.

Lovely location and short drive to local areas. Recommend Ned’s a short drive away for lovely bakes. Projector was a big hit with our daughter.

Google · April 2026 Where to begin,, I stayed at Davey Johns Forge Cottage and Cabin , from Friday 3rd April to the 6th, I stayed in cabin 2 and it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. The place itself is beautiful, cozy, and very well maintained, with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. Design, layout and details are all covered 👌. One of the highlights was definitely the Hot Tub—it was fantastic and made the whole trip feel extra special. It was heated up and ready to use from arrival which was amazing, perfect for unwinding in the evenings after exploring the area. There is a ready to go BBQ for cooking and a Wood Fire Stove by the table to light well enjoying freshly cooked food from the BBQ or from cooking inside the cabin. The location is also ideal, offering a great balance of peaceful surroundings while still being convenient for getting around and seeing nearby attractions. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. I will definitely be returning there again and i am already trying to make it very soon . The cabin was very cosy and as described and had everything you needed. The hot tub was a lovely extra and easy to use and always warm. The only slight downside was that we hadn’t realised that the property was on a busy main road and the view down to the road in Cabin 1 wasn’t quite as we had pictured. However we couldn’t fault anything else.

Airbnb · April 2026 Perfect family break. Couldn't fault our stay. The hot tub was spotless and ready to use, the bed linen, towels and robes were plentiful, high quality and comfortable. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures with an added bonus of a covered hot tub and gorgeous outdoor lights (much needed in Donegals precarious weather). Our host was proactive, checking on us, and helpful with any questions. Highly recommend for a family (5 of us plus a dog) as a cosy base to explore Donegal.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and sauna, both were clean and easy to use and bath robes were provided which was a great addition. Really appreciated the detailed instructions Shane sent us beforehand on how to use everything. The cabin itself was nice and clean. Airbnb · January 2026 We arrived in Davey John's on a frosty but grey January Friday, but sitting in the hot tub watching the stars is honestly the best way to colour a grey day! The best way to start a new year! We had such a lovely time, the fire was cosy, the house warmed up quickly. We went to Downings beach for a walk with the dog, came back, lit the fire and the hot tub was already warmed and ready for us on our arrival! On the Saturday, we went to Carrigart beach, eat in the Galley in Downings, returned to the house, into the hot tub and the sauna is sooooo gooood! Great fun, really cosy and everything is there to make it a totally relaxing and fantastic stay. Forgot to mention the cinema experience which was also a great novelty! Loved everything about it - think I'll have to go back!

I couldn’t recommend it enough, I stayed in one of the cabins and have to say the facilities are to such a high standard, the cabin was always warm, the shower water pressure was amazing, they have all the utensils to cook a meal (gas hob, oven and air fryer), the jacuzzi and sauna were top of the range and to be dog friendly as well was just such an awesome added bonus. I would highly recommend to anyone especially if you’re looking to bring your pet and escape to a tranquil picturesque getaway. The beaches and woodlands are beautiful and so close by. I will definitely be back again. Thanks so much again
Airbnb · January 2026 We had a lovely getaway over NYE at Davey’s Forge. Such a wonderful way to start the new year in nature, with plenty to do at the house. You could just stay here and now leave and have a wonderful escape - the hot tub, movie room, fireplace & sauna are such a treat. There is so much to do so close by too if you want to hike, walk by the sea, go to a little town like Downings… would absolutely return!

The cottage is a bit oddly shapped, some of the doors are small and especially upstairs the stairs and door is tiny to get into the bedroom. Not suitable for tall or older people. Shane can always be contacted and he responds immediately, thanks for that.We have not used the sauna which is shared with the 2 cabins but it looks great. Would recommend the cottage

Of course the biggest highlight was definitely the hot tub and sauna. They were clean, well maintained and made the whole trip feel like a proper luxury break. Airbnb · September 2025 I booked a 2 night stay for myself, my sister and my dog so we got the cottage as it had 2 double bedrooms. The house felt like my granny's house with a lovely quaint and quirky feel about it! There's also 2 stunning cabins available here as well. All 3 spaces (2 cabins and 1 cottage) had their own hot-tub that was on, water was hot and ready to go on arrival which was fantastic. That and the sauna was what sealed the deal for me to come to Davey John's and neither disappointed! There was an abundance of towels and dressing gowns available and the kitchen in the cottage was fully stocked. Directions were crystal clear, infor for how to access the property was easy and we were left to our own devices which was lovely. Out host checked in via message a couple of times but honestly we needed for nothing! I highly recommend Davey Johns and will definitely return - hoping to stay in one of the cabins next time! Thanks for everything!!

We were delighted to be able to bring our dog with us too :) The service was great and our host Shane was quick to respond any time we had a question (which wasn’t often because everything was made so easy with instructions etc!). Google · September 2025 Stayed for a 2 night weekend stay with a group of 6 adults & 1 pooch. A Lovely fully equipped cottage. Excellent instructions from the owner on how to use the facilities. But kitchen table only had 4 chairs, we had to take in the 2 outside garden chairs to fit the 6 of us. Not enough seating outside for 6 adults, or a table large enough, we borrowed the couch from the sauna area in order to sit & socialise at the BBQ, Hot Tub, as this is the big attraction of the cottage, with the Beautiful Sea View from Hot Tub, BBQ area. Access to the Bay, is just that access, no beach, but lots of Beautiful Beaches close by within a short driving distance. Cottage states that it has 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 comfortably, but a set of Bunk Beds in a single room is definitely for children & not 2 grown adults, no wardrobe & this was a disappointment & it was a connecting room through the ground floor 1st bedroom, perfect as a children's room. 2 large bedroom's were very comfortable, lovely linen, plenty of towels, & robes. Upstairs bedroom has no mirror, it would be handy to have 1. Our host very kindly extended our checkout to 11am, but at 9am the gardeners arrived, with strimmers, lawnmower, blower & herbicide spraying, so we were not able to enjoy our last morning breakfast in the outside area or have the door open, because of noise & gardeners in this area and it was a beautiful blue sky morning. We were quite concerned with drift from the spraying of herbicide right outside back area on gravel of BBQ area, it was breezy, especially for the dog. Maybe the gardeners could arrive after guests have checked out? Overall a lovely Bijou Cottage, but needs 3 double separate bedroons, to accommodate 6 adults.

Google · August 2025 We had a fantastic week in Davey Johns Forge Cottage, it was quirky in such a good way, the sun was out so we enjoyed sitting outside every evening , the BBQ provided was 5 ⭐️ and our two teenage girls loved the hot tub in the evenings. The beds were really comfortable and the rooms were all finished beautifully. The cinema room was also first class. There are only a couple of wee things that would have made our stay even better, we would have appreciated a bit of info on local restaurants, taxi’s etc.. and the back garden wasn’t fully enclosed which was a bit of a concern with an untrustworthy pooch near the main road.. Otherwise this a really top notch spot 👍

Airbnb · August 2025 This is Avery beautiful area of Ireland and we very much enjoyed exploring the area. This guesthouse was renovated from an old farm building and they have done a very nice job. The kitchen and bathroom are modern and lead to a back porch with a nice hot tub. The beds were comfortable and the house was stocked with all the needed basics. The only challenge is that there is a relatively strong musty/mildew smell which they are combatting with a dozen air fresheners. For me this was unpleasant but for someone not very smell sensitive it would likely not be a concern.

Loads of big fluffy towels for everyone so we could enjoy the hot tub and sauna. We lived in the amazing bath robes and all wished we could have kept them! Lots of instant hot water, everything we needed to be comfortable and well looked after. The bbq wasn’t messing around, it would have broiled! We enjoyed the chiminea and hot tub late into evening and the projector made the living room feel like a cinema. We were so lucky with the weather, we spent most of our time outside, enjoying the gorgeous views. Can’t wait to come again next year!

It’s a beautiful part of the world, very handy for Downings beach which was great fun for a paddle and had lots of water sports available for the more adventurous. Shane was very welcoming and on hand to help us with the cinema screen and general enquiries. The downstairs double bedroom has the kids room (with bunk beds) adjoining which is particularly handy for families with younger children, but there is also a spacious double bedroom upstairs. The hot tub was great, but the view was the highlight. Loved sitting in the garden looking down at the water and the hills.

Airbnb · August 2025 Lovely little cottage in rural Ireland. Not too remote though with small towns of Carrickart being six minutes, and Milford being 11 minutes away. If you want a bigger town, Letterkenny is only 30 minutes away. The cottage itself was quaint and a nice little getaway to relax in with a beautiful view of Broad Water and the surrounding wilderness. If you're a rally fan, the cottage is perfectly located for Saturday and Sunday stages. One stage start was only eight minutes away. Hosts were very quick to respond to my many questions and were incredibly helpful. Will stay again when I come back for Rally Donegal in the future.

Airbnb · July 2025 we stayed at Davy zjohn for 3 night with our 3 children and in-laws & 2 dogs. it felt like stepping back in time, old world charm with all of the modern facilities needed. hot tub was a plus for all guests, kitchen well stocked and green egg bbq very useful. big cinema screen in living room easy to use and impressed the children. only downside was upstairs bedroom is very tight to get into, low ceiling on entrance and steps little bit steep for older guests. once in the bedroom is a usual height for a cottage. lovely and spacious massive bed. would suit younger guests upstairs it was quaint and added to the donegal charm. 5 mins from carigart and 30 mins from singing pub on atlantic drive. lots to see and do nearby with a car not much to walk too. Shane was helpful and very responsive to messages. parking is great and outdoor space fresh and recently renovated. we didn't want to leave. will return for another adventure. lovely relaxing spot. Just the ticket!

The place was also completely spotless, which added to the sense of luxury! Also incredibly dog friendly, our dog even made friends with the neighbours! It is located in a fairly busy road, so there's a bit of road noise that may bother some people, but you can't hear it from inside. The host was also very proactive with communication and making sure we were comfortable and had what we needed, and we're also very responsive to any queries we had.The location is great and in close proximity to some beautiful towns and some of the best beaches and scenery Ireland has to offer.Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone!

The view of Broadwater and the surrounding wilderness never got old. If you're staying in the area and want a nice cozy cottage, you can't go wrong. If you're looking because of Rally Donegal, this cottage is perfectly placed for Saturday and Sunday stages.

The only thing I would suggest if you are planning a stay is to pre plan taxis, if you don’t drive or you’re planning on drinking alcohol it may be tricky to get a taxi as me and my partner discovered.

It’s privately situated with a view of the lake, making an evening soak in the hot tub a very nice experience. There are plenty of viewpoints and gorgeous coastline within short driving distance of the cabin.

Airbnb · January 2025 What can I say we absolutely loved it, we met Shane on arrival and he was so kind and we stayed during storm eowyn and had no power (no one’s fault obviously) but thank god we did because we were actually able to make lots of tea as we wouldn’t of been able to from home, he even gave an extra night free of charge, we absolutely loved it, and the hot tub was absolutely amazing, it’s honestly such a nice quiet getaway, can’t wait to stay again, many thanks to Shane, Kate and ray for having us.

The hot tub is very enjoyable and easy to use and the fire place was a gorgeous treat. The king bedroom was lovely and cosy. The kitchen had all amenities including a full range cooker. There were a few stains in the downstairs bunkbed room but that's to be expected when pets are allowed and it was worth it to be able to have our own furry friend with us! We also loved the projector for watching movies.

Quiet location with a great view of Mulroy Bay. Sitting out in the hot tub with the little fairy lights just as dark starts to fall 🍁 absolute bliss!! The cabin is set up to a tee! Has everything you need at hand! The bed, best nights sleep I've had in a long time!! Location is great with a short drive to Downings and Letterkenny.. I cannot recommend this place enough.. also Shane the host is very helpful and professional. Explains everything you need to know before arriving.. so if you want a getaway for total relaxation this is the place for you.. you won't regret it, I know I don't!!

The place is always lovely and clean and the hot tub too. We had asked for a later checkout and they moved things around in order to accommodate us. We will be coming here for a long, long time! The sky at night was beautiful then the sound of the rain on the roof set the mood perfect as I sat on the sofa beside the top of the range hot tub. Will definitely be somewhere I'd like to return to again in the future. Very clear instructions on everything and how it works and then any other questions was answered instantly via message. Gorgeous cottage, really cosy and some lovely unique features, it was easy to tell that the place was renovated by people who really cared about the end result.. Shane was super responsive as a host, sent really clear instructions for everything and was a massive help when we left a bag behind!! Would definitely recommend to friends and family and we will hopefully stay again next time we're in Donegal.

Hi Dee, I’m very sorry we didn’t live up to your expectations. It’s a pity you didn’t message me during your stay. The WiFi is working as expected and I would have helped you to connect had I known you were having difficulties. We have plenty of extra pillows available and could have dropped some in to you. The hot tub water was only recently changed too and we check the chemicals regularly. If you have a look at the message history you’ll see that I checked in with you on your first day with us but I didn’t get a reply so assumed everything was going well. All the same, I’ve passed your feedback to our cleaning team who will take it all on board.

Loved the Nespresso coffee machine as we have one at home too. Jacuzzi was such a bonus and the projector screen was also a favourite all round. Heating system was easy to use and cottage was also warm and cosy. Hot water is instant once it’s turned on which is such an essential after a day at the beach! Shane was so responsive for any questions I had throughout the stay. Would highly recommend!

This is a very calm and quiet place for a short stay, however, since this is a pet friendly place, there could be pet hair on the sofa, which if u are not a pet person you might not feel comfortable about it. Other than that, if you want to spend time with your partner or wants to have some alone time, this is a very good place to be.

The views looking over the lough and the hills were gorgeous as well, and there's a small town less than 10 minutes away by car to stock up on all the essentials. Just a bit further out, there's so much of the incredible countryside Donegal is known for, for you to go and explore! Which was great for us, as we also brought our dog along with us. Overall, we had an amazing stay and we will 100% be back again!

We made use of the hot tub and the fabulous hot (& powerful) shower; we didn’t use the cooking facilities at all but it looked great - complete with airfryer! The location was perfect (hubs golfed and I hiked). I’d highly recommend this spot. We had a lovely dinner in Carrigart (and the Centra there is a one-stop-shop for all your needs!). The nearby Tramore beach is just gorgeous.

I was really grateful to be trusted with my two dogs and share my holiday with them. The garden isn't enclosed so would recommend keeping dogs on a lead as its near the road, but the listing doesn't claim to have this, so I expected it. The divide between the two cabins was a nice touch, and the cabins are far enough apart that there's not too much noise overlap, although if I had a problem with noise, I feel like the host would be responsive.

Shane was proactive and welcoming in his communication, the cabins are beautifully decorated and well kitted out with everything you could need for a remote weekend away. Endless beaches and beautiful hikes on your doorstep, friendly local bars and a spotless hot tub to enjoy in the evening. Great facility for dogs also - secure gate and garden area for them.

Nespresso machine & milk frother, TV with loads of channels should you need it, hot tub which was ready to use 24/7, such a fab location, very secluded which was just perfect for us & only 10mins drive to the nearest town for food etc! 10/10! It’s often hard to please everyone and even with a large age range in our group we all loved Davey Johns Forge. A great mix of modern and traditional and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or book again. Shane was an amazing host, he left comprehensive instructions and guide books so there is no real need to ask for anything, but when I did reach out he was on the ball with his responses and also checked if everything was going well half way through the stay. I cannot fault accommodation or host!

Google · May 2024 I brought my partner here for a suprise for our anniversary at Shane's place : Davey Johns cottage and cabins. We stayed in Cabin 2. And to say this place is spectacular is an understatement but I will try write with words how our experience went. From the second we walked in there was a bunch of roses left out followed by flowers an chocolates placed on the bed with a bottle of Prosecco that was chilled all from request the hosts did amazingly. The decor is modernly an beautifuly decorated throughout. The bed is something else iv never slept in such a comfortable bed in all my life had the best sleep me and my partner as it is so quite and very very comfortable bed. The setting outside is the best setting for romantic vibes with peaceful as you have your own hot tub which you can use 24/7 which is a huge bonus, you have your own fire stove also that you can sit beside taken in the stars sipping on a glass of wine or beer. Lights above hottub gives off a nice romantic chill vibe. Shane was very responsive to all my questions and he's instructions where very clear. Absolute brilliant host. We will be back to this place AGAIN. The views around the area are absolutely breathtaking. I think to understand this place you gotta stay here to experience what it has to offer. I highly recommend this stay 110percent. We Will Be Back!!

Quite,clean,peaceful,romantic,modern,great vibes. You gotta stay here to really experience what this place has to offer. We will be back here AGAIN!! Views are absolutely breathtaking around daveyjohns, would highly recommend a stay here 110percent without a doubt. iv never slept so comfortably in all my life the bed is something else very very very comfortable. Hot tub you can use 24/7 which is a huge bonus lights above it makes it a great vibe for romantic plus your own fire stove to chill off taken in the stars while sipping on a glass of wine or beer. Had a very romantic chill peaceful weekend here with my partner celebrating our anniversary together. Host/Hosts hit my requests right on point couldn't of asked for better absolutely amazing. Google · May 2024 Myself and my husband enjoyed four days in cabin 2 and we absolutely loved it! The cabin was clean and tidy and it had everything we needed for our stay. The decor is gorgeous and so luxurious :) we loved the hot tub so much and the fact that it was always ready to go was fantastic. The tv was set with everything we could have possibly wanted to watch with all the streaming services available. The bed was sooo cosy! It was hard to get out of it in the morning. I’m glad we did though because we had the most peaceful and tranquil escape in Carrigart. The views from the cabin were absolutely breathtaking and we drove into Letterkenny to visit tropical world which was so much fun! If you are thinking about booking a stay just do it! You will not regret it! Myself and my hubby are home now and feeling very refreshed and rejuvenated. Also amazing that pets are allowed and we will be sure to bring ours next time! :) thanks so much ❤️

The space was private and even our German Shepherd settled in well! The surroundings were calm and relaxing. Within a 10min drive we were on the beach! We’ll definitely return. A couple of things to keep in mind, you share the outdoor space with the other cabin so be mindful if your dog is outside :-)

The cottage boasts modern amenities you might not expect of a cottage such as a hot tub and projector screen with access to all your streaming preferences. The cabin was so cozy, we walked in on a cold day to a lovely heated place. The hot tub was so nice to get into at night and was really nice despite it being freezing outside. We went for dinner at the Carrigart restaurant, the steak sandwich was amazing and it was only a 5min drive up the road! Definitely going to look into coming back.

Google · December 2023 We had a lovely stay in Cabin 1 which is in a great location with a lovely hot tub. Lots of places to visit nearby. The cabin is comfortable and fully furnished. Never stayed in a place where one of the best bluetooth portable speakers provided. Lots of choice on tv and as I mentioned before the blue tooth speaker was great to listen to our music while relaxing in the hot tub Kitchen is well equipped, and although there are a few restaurants close by, we did use the air fryer once which was convenient. Bed was comfortable and Shower was always hot. The entire house was well insulated and was always warm. Shane is very responsive and helpful and kept in touch as and when we needed anything. I feel bad I disturbed him during his Christmas eve dinner with his family by asking couple of questions🙈🙈. I would certainly recommend cabin which is located in a amazing surrounding. Thanks Shane for the best stay I ever had.

Shane was very prompt, friendly and helpful with his communication and check in was super easy. A few downsides were that the hot tubs never reached a temperature where they could be used (which was the main reason we chose this location) and also there was 1 bed rather than the 2 that Airbnb listed. If those things were in order the stay would’ve otherwise been perfect.

Google · September 2023 This is our favourite getaway. I couldn’t recommend Davey Johns Forge more! The location is beautiful, close to nearby towns for shops etc, lovely water side walks directly across the road. The cabins are so snug and cosy and Shane is such an attentive host. The cabin was spotless for us arriving, the hot tub on and heated. We brought our doberman with us and there was plenty of room for him too! We keep coming back and will continue to. It has such a homey feel. 11/10.

Airbnb · September 2023 We had a lovely stay in Cabin 2 which is in a great location with a lovely hot tub. Lots of places to visit within a short or long drive, whatever suits. The cabin is comfortable and furnished to a high spec-one of the nicest we’ve stayed in. Lots of choice on tv and the blue tooth speaker was great to listen to our music while relaxing in the hot tub Kitchen is well equipped, and although there are a few restaurants close by, we did use the air fryer a couple of times which was convenient. Bed was comfy Shower was always red hot Shane is very helpful and kept in touch as and when we needed anything. I would certainly recommend cabin which is located in a lovely part of the world. The cabin itself was immaculate and homely. We stayed for two nights in cabin 2. Was perfect for a couples retreat. Private and romantic. Airbnb · August 2023 Our group travelled from Dublin to attend a dinner in The Olde Glen Bar. Shane’s cottage was the perfect stay in terms of location and the amount of people his cabin (6 people). Shane sent us very detailed information in regards to check-in, how to use the entertainment system, heating, hot tub etc. My favourite part is the video tutorials he had ready for us. He was very responsive and friendly. The all the amenities available worked and were in pristine condition. Every bed was very comfortable even the bunk beds! The cabin has extremely high quality cotton duvet covers. We were able to cook and enjoy a nice breakfast with the 7 ring gas stove (hence the late check out, sorry!) I 100% recommend!

The cinema room was a huge hit as was the hot tub! We had running hot water with in seconds of hitting the button 🙌🏻Close to Carrigart and 5mins drive from Downings. Shane had given us detailed instructions regarding our stay that we needed nothing throughout the week! Looking forward to next year already 🤞🎉

We also really enjoyed relaxing at the cabin and use of the hot tub outside. Enjoyed the sport on the tv as well - many channels and movies etc to choose from after a long drive so was nice to shill for a few hours. Highly recommend staying here and all the instructions and comms were really clear.

It was very peaceful, nice surroundings and clean comfortable. Minor issue with the hot tub which was promptly resolved by phonecall with Shane. I would advise anyone booking this cabin to ensure you have condiments / tea & coffee etc with you.

Airbnb · July 2023 Took our two cockapoos to Shane’s cabin for the night and we were delighted with the accommodation especially considering it was pet friendly! Kitchen was fully equipped and all amenities such as towels etc provided. The area which the cabin is situated is restrictive in terms of walking as it’s close to a busy main road, but Downings beach is only a 10 minute drive away. The only issue we had with our stay was a large volume of flies which we assume came from the lough which you can visibly see from the cabin. However, we quickly resolved the issue with a can of bug spray which we left for the next set of guests arriving. Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend to anyone visiting Donegal with their furry friends.

The bathroom was very cleans and smelled like bleach when we came in which is great. There was also a stain on the couch.

You're the first person to mention earwigs inside the cabin to us so I asked our cleaning team to go through the cabin today and pay special attention for insects of any kind. Thankfully they didn't see any. The only thing I can think of is perhaps you left the windows open and one or two may have come in that way? It is unusually hot in Donegal at the moment so I can understand why you might have. With regard to the pet fur. We really don't know what this could be. Your cabin was prepared with fresh bedding as always so there couldn't have been anything left behind from a previous pet. Nevertheless I have also brought this to the attention of the team here.

Alles ist mit viel Liebe zum Details eingerichtet, einfach zum Wohlfühlen! Self Check-in ist ein grosser Vorteil und Shain erklärt in kurzen Videos alles was man wissen muss. Einziger Kritikpunkt: Auf den ersten Blick war allee sauber aber auf den zweiten Blick sah man doch in vielen Ecken Staub und teilweise Flecken, aber wirklich nicht dramatisch auffällig. Und die Lichtfunktion am Hottub hat nicht funktioniert (auch nicht schlimm). Vielen Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt.

Airbnb · May 2023 What a great wee cabin!! Stayed for 2 nights with our dog Ralph and it was fab. The place was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the hot-tub was so relaxing! I have stayed in the cottage on the same site and it was great too..such a beautiful place. We taxi’d into Downings on night 1 with a local company and had a pint in the Harbour Bar. We cooked both evenings, all appliances were great. Downings beach and the boardwalk are close for a good walk, however I would not recommend walking along the main road outside the Airbnb! Thanks again for a great stay.

Shane provided us with clear instructions for our check-in before we arrived and they were so helpful! The cabin felt like a home away from home and was so beautiful inside and out. It was absolutely spotless and very well laid out. The bathroom was beautiful, hotel standard for sure! The bedroom has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, so cosy! The highlight of our stay was the hot tub! We spent a fair few hours in that over the weekend and it was bliss! The area is also very beautiful, lovely surroundings and so peaceful. We will definitely book another trip for sure, maybe for a little longer next time (we wanted to stay there forever!). Google · March 2023 Such a beautiful place to stay. Felt like a home away from home and was so clean and cosy. The hot tub was amazing, we spent most of our weekend in it! The cabin had everything you would need for your stay and the host was so lovely too. The bed was probably the most comfy bed I've ever slept in! The area was quite peaceful and there's a lake across the road which we could see from the cabin. Only about a half hour drive from Letterkenny which wasn't bad at all! Would definitely recommend 👌🏻

We also had access to a private hot tub which was so nice. It was the perfect way to relax. Before we arrived I was sent links to videos on how to set up the hot tub etc, this was extremely helpful. Shane is an amazing host and is completely on the ball around messaging and checking in. I would highly recommend staying here!!

Lots of picturesque scenery for nature walks etc nearby and only a 20 minute drive from Letterkenny. The beds were very comfortable and the property was very clean with modern kitchen and shower facilities. The property is particularly unique for the outdoor hot tub and the indoor cinema projector which was a huge bonus. Couldn’t recommend staying here enough. Check in and check out was very easy too and the location is easy to find with lots of parking. Only two of us stayed but it can comfortably fit 6 with lots of space and comfortable beds. Highly recommended

The bathroom was very clean with all amenities provided. The bed was very comfortable. The best was the hot tub especially during the cold winter! The weather on one of the days was pretty rough so we stayed in and there was Wi-Fi and TV to use. Shane was very responsive and helpful in answering any questions we had. Overall a wonderful stay. 10/10 recommend.

The area is beautiful, I really recommend Ards Forest park which has a beach and a huge bay which our dog really loved as there was a lot of space to run. There is a town a few minutes away when we needed to do a bit of shopping. They have a website which is really helpful with video walk throughs on how everything worked. From talking with Shane at booking until we locked the doors to head home on Sunday it was such an easy stay. The cabin itself is beautiful, so nicely decorated and very cosy with a big comfortable bed and the hot tub just topped it off, being ready for us to use anytime at all during our stay! We brought our own food with us to cook, but there are lots of options within a 10 minute drive also. We loved every minute and definitely plan on coming back next year!

It was a nice change from our other holiday lodging plans...we cooked some meals for ourselves, relaxed in the hot tub, made friends with the cows and bull behind the cabin, and took a wee bit of...not downtime, but we slowed down a much-needed bit in the middle of our long whirlwind Ireland holiday. The location is rural but not too remote; there are small shops, a grocery, gas stations and a few dining options nearby. The view of Mulroy Bay and across it from the cabin is grand and, while the weather for our stay in October could have been better, it almost didn't matter while soaking in the tub with a protective overhang, some privacy, and a nice beverage.

Airbnb · September 2022 We recently stayed in the cabin with our two furry friends. we had a wonderful and relaxing time. Everything within the cabin was wonderful- the furnishings, the accessories, the appliances, the spaces and of course the hot tub. There's access to the waterfront across the road. it's a lovely location with Carrigart and Downings less than 10 mins away. You can explore further afield as well (recommend some hours in Ards Forest), but we really just enjoyed some beach and forest walks, and then chilling in the cabin in the evening. the kitchen has ample space to cook comfortably. The hot tub is a lovely treat, finished by a lovely shower. The TV was greatlynpositionednto give it an in screen cinema feel. We had a green patch next to the cabin where the dogs could stretch and go to the bathroom when needed. Our eldest dog has great recall and doesn't roam. Our latest rescue was on lead and suspect she will be a roamer (aka handful) so would need to keep an eye on her in future! Would recommend this spot for something different. Shane was a great communicator and even has videos to explain certain functions. We will be recommending to friends for sure.

Airbnb · August 2022 we really enjoyed our stay. the cabin is really clean and beautifully decorated. it is obvious that there has been alot of thought and care put into it to ensure the guests are comfortable and relaxed. great hot tub, comfy bed, very quiet & good kitchen for cooking. we brought our dog who enjoyed his stay & long walks on close beaches (great one over the harry blane bridge which we had all to ourselves a few times). as the site is shared with another cabin and main gate isnt always closed we did have to keep an eye on him when he was outside the cabin. other than that we hope to return next year.

Also, location is just perfect to visit some beautiful parts of the country and the Glenveagh National Park is only 30 minutes away. We stayed in cabin 1 and the view is wonderful when sitting in the hot tub. The whole cabin was well equipped - air fryer and all. It was lovely and clean with a super comfortable bed and sofa. The tv had Netflix etc but we didn’t really use it as we were too busy enjoying the view outside. It’s also great to find somewhere so lovely and dog friendly! That was a big plus for us. We will be back.

Airbnb · July 2022 Stayed here for 4 days, the cabin was beautiful and decorated to a high standard, bedroom was lovely, bed was so comfy and we had a great sleep each night, kitchen area has everything you need for your stay, and shower had great water pressure, It was a great location to base yourself to see all that Donegal and surrounding areas has to offer, very peaceful and quiet, Hot tub is a great feature and we spent our evenings sitting in it, if I did have to nip pick, I would say that hot tub does need to be emptied and cleaned as you can see a lot of scum residue built up on sides and also can feel some small pebbles on the base of it, Other than that we did enjoy our stay and we look forward to visiting again really soon

Tha is for your feedback John. I’m really glad you enjoyed yourselves. I’ll have another look at the tub maintenance. They are cleaned between every stay and the chemicals monitored closely but we might have to be a bit better about communicating how not to bring stones or sand into them.

You have your own space to unwind when the baby goes down to sleep, including obviously the hot tub, which was great and incredibly easy to use. There is WiFi and access to Netflix and Disney plus, cooking utensils, iron, etc. The cherry on top is most definitely the jacuzzi outside of the cabin. It was absolutely great and you can use it even if its raining as it is under the roof! Shane is an amazing host and checked back on us throughout our stay. The whole property is absolutely spotless and another great thing about it - its pet friendly 🙌 overall amazing stay, thanks again!

A perfect base to tour the Fanad and Rosguill peninsulas . We really enjoyed the use of the private hot tub. Would definitely recommend and come back!

Airbnb · May 2022 This cabin is a perfect retreat from the busy city. A simple FAQ sheet would have made our initial experience a little less stressful - especially for Americans. That said, Shane was extremely responsive as we settled in and figured things out. The location is excellent for some of Ireland’s more hidden gems such as Malin Head, Glenveagh National Park, and Rossapina golf resort. This stay suited our needs perfectly.

We were also surprised to find a hot tub that was part of the cabin on the front decking - it was warm and ready to use immediately which was a real highlight. Shane was also a great host, super communicative and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here, the only regret was not being able to stay longer!

Airbnb · April 2022 We had a wonderful stay at the cabin - it was the perfect place to relax and recuperate. The sofa was so comfy, TV had everything you could possibly need and we ended up having our meals in as everything we needed to cook was right there. We enjoyed trying out the airfryer too! We had some bad weather while there which wasn't a problem as we could hop in the hot tub and relax as it's covered by the porch. We were unlucky enough to experience a few power outages during our stay which affected the whole Millbay area but Shane was in contact with us giving us advice and there were also back up LED lights which came on in the cabin when this happened so we weren't left sitting in the dark. The location is perfect for exploring, with Fanad lighthouse, Glenveagh national park and the Donegal Boardwalk all on our list of places we ventured to from the cabin and would recommend! The comfiest bed and a great shower made it hard to want to return home. Shane contacted us a few times during our stay to check everything was ok which we really appreciated.

The cabin is very clean, spacious and has all the utilities you could possibly need. The bed is a great size and is very comfortable. The hot tub is amazing also with a nice view across the lough. The property is close to Dunfanaghy and Downings where there are some beautiful drives along the wild Atlantic way and spectacular beaches. There are also some great walks not too far away - I would recommend the Glenveigh National Park. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back.

Check in was easy & secure. We couldn’t believe how beautiful the cabin was when we went inside. A stunning kitchenette, living area, beautiful bedroom & super comfy bed & a lovely bathroom with a super shower! The heating system is so easy to use with an adjustable thermostat which was great for a very cold weekend!❄️ We had a lovely time sitting watching Netflix & having a glass of wine in the hot tub after a long walk! Shane is always so good at replying to any message. The cabin is in a picturesque setting with amazing views. Amazing hikes if you are like us and love to hike or explore one of the many close beaches. Close to shops and the eircode will bring you straight to the door. We will be back again as due to Irish weather I never got the chance to have my coffee outside and take in the amazing views.

Airbnb · January 2022 This place is little hidden gem in the most idyllic location, just a stones throw from some of the most beautiful beaches and view points on the wild atlantic way. The host has taken no shortcuts with this place. The bed and sofa bed were incredibly comfortable. The shower was fantastic. The kitchen facilities impecable. Sitting in the hot tub over looking the water with a fire burning really was the icing on the cake after a long winter stroll around Fanad head and Portsalon beach. We took two toddlers and a dog with us and the cabin was very comfortable for all of us. The wifi speed in incredible too. No expence has been spared here. The communication with host was fantastic. He gave us really excellent recommenadations on places to eat and visit. We will absolutely definitely be back.

The place was spotless and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook all of our meals for the 3 days. Shane had left a lovely wee gift on arrival which was a generous touch. Shane is a great host, extremely helpful and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable, including giving us local recommendations. This cabin is pet friendly too which was lovely as we were able to bring our little dog. We will definitely be back as the location was perfect, only 10 mins from Downings and other beautiful beaches. The cabin was cosy and just perfect.

The location is great, quiet and private. It’s also well connected to all the main tourist spots in the area including Fanad Head Lighthouse, Dowings Beach and Golf Course, Ards Friary and Forest Park, and Doe Castle. Shane is also a great host. He was really proactive and responsive in all communications, made us feel really welcome when we arrived and helped with suggestions for things to do. Facebook · September 2021 Retreat to Davey John’s Cabin This place is a kin to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia. You couldn’t ask for a nicer place to runaway from it all. Tucked away behind the old blacksmith’s forge and seamlessly run by Shane from the Forge Cottage is Davey John’s cabin. This place is a hidden gem in north Donegal. The cabin was so immaculately presented I thought I was the first guest to tip over its threshold. The cabin is toasty warm with adjustable thermostat. There is everything you could need in a kitchen, gas hob & oven, all utensils, cutlery etc. In the living area - it is beautifully decorated with the couch long and comfortable. Large screen adorns the far wall where Netflix, Prime etc are provided free of charge by Shane. The bed is kingsize fit for a queen !! And you will sink into restful sleep after days of fresh air, sight seeing and plenty of local foods. The Chimenea is just outside your cabin door , again Shane will provide you with all the firewood you could ask for - relax outside on the outdoor sofa , listen to birdsong with the wind singing through trees, looking out over Mulroy Bay, glass of wine in hand. I even cooked atop the chimenea- locally sourced fish of course. You couldn’t ask for a more peaceful romantic setting to take a break from ‘it’ all. One thing is for certain - I will be back, perhaps a winter break ❤ Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference

If you are in to cooking, the kitchen has everything you need, pots, plates, cutlery etc. There is Netflix and a very nice detail, they left a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates for us. We would definetely stay there again if ever returning to that part of the country. Very quiet area , there is a lake just across the road, perfect place to relax...and pet friendly.

The log cabins are absolutely beautiful and I used the opportunity for myself and my best friend from London to have a girls trip. Shane was an absolute legend of a host and could not have been more welcoming. Mulroy bay is absolutely gorgeous and we had some great fun in the local pubs. Airbnb · August 2021 The cabin was finished to a top standard, the interiors were all so cosy for the log cabin appeal. Shane was very quick on any queries and had a lovely bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival too. Hopefully we will be back again soon as it is so close to numerous beaches and walks!

Airbnb · August 2021 We had a wonderful stay in this cosy cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Lots of stylish decorative touches, and the lounge and master bedroom were lovely. Shane, our host, was extremely helpful and communicative, and responses to requests straightaway. The lovely bay is right across a (fast but quiet) road from the front of the cottage and Shane had a kayak available if desired; there was good outside space; excellent location with close proximity to amazing beaches and scenery. In all, a great place to say.

Airbnb · August 2021 Shane’s place is absolutely stunning - interiors of the toasty cabin look like they’ve been done by an interior designer! Everything done to such a high standard and quality, with a real cosy and homely feel. Shane was a wonderful host! Very quick to reply and all sitting perfect for us to arrive at the time that suited us best. Let’s not forget a very kind and thoughtful complimentary bottle of red wine and box of chocolates. Lots of yummy restaurants close by including an amazing sourdough bakery “An Sourdough Beatha” and the popular “Singing Pub”. The perfect stay thank you very very much! Couldn’t recommend highly enough and can’t wait to come back!

Airbnb · August 2021 Shane is a fantastic (super) host! Very easy to communicate with and very responsive. The cabin is absolutely spotless. Great attention to detail throughout. Its the perfect place to relax for a few days! Very close to lots of beautiful beaches and dramtic donegal scenery.
