This page explains what personal information we collect when you use this website or book a stay with us, what we do with it, and your rights.

Who we are

Davey John’s Forge is operated by Davey Johns Forge Limited, an Irish-registered company (CRO number 753157) at Devlinmore, Carrigart, Co. Donegal, F92 K6H0. The data controller is Shane Teskey, who you can reach at shane@daveyjohnsforge.ie or +353 86 807 9066.

What we collect

Two kinds of information.

Information you give us directly. When you fill in our contact or enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, phone number if you choose to provide it, and the message you send us. When you book a stay, our booking platform (Amenitiz) collects the details needed to process your booking: name, contact information, dates, and payment details (payment is handled by Amenitiz; we don’t see or store payment card information).

Information collected automatically. When you visit this site, our analytics tool (Google Analytics 4) records how the site is used: pages viewed, time on site, approximate location at country/city level, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This information is used in aggregate to help us improve the site; it doesn’t identify you personally. We only set analytics cookies if you accept them in our cookie banner (see Cookie policy).

How we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry or booking
  • To send you booking confirmations and information about your stay
  • To improve the website and understand which content is useful
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations as an Irish business

We don’t sell your information to anyone. We don’t use it for unrelated marketing. We don’t share it with third parties except the service providers we need to operate the business (booking platform, email provider, analytics), and they only see what they need to do their job.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking: 12 months, then deleted
  • Booking records: as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (typically 7 years under Irish law)
  • Analytics data: aggregated, retained per Google’s standard policies

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask what information we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate information corrected
  • Have your information deleted (where we don’t have a legal obligation to keep it)
  • Object to how we’re using it
  • Take your information elsewhere in a portable format

To exercise any of these, email shane@daveyjohnsforge.ie and we’ll respond within 30 days.

If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled your request, you have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (dataprotection.ie).
