Davey John’s Forge · Yours with every stay

Davey John’s Sauna. In the old peat shed.

A hot-stone sauna in what used to be the peat shed: pine inside, a starfield in the ceiling, and a copper outdoor shower in the quartz-paved courtyard.

The sauna

Twenty minutes from cold to 85°C, then yours for as long as you like.

What used to be the peat shed is now a hot-stone sauna. It’s electric with coals on top: twenty minutes from cold to 85°C, then it’s yours for as long as you want it. Pine-lined inside, with a blue starfield in the ceiling and a bench against the stone wall.

Outside, a copper rainfall shower in the quartz-paved courtyard for cooling off between sessions, a teak sofa and bistro seating, and the bay beyond. There’s no booking and no time slot: it’s open around the clock to everyone staying with us, and never opened to anyone from outside.

How it works

What to know before you heat it.

Heat

Hot-stone, 85–90°C

Electric with coals on top: twenty minutes from cold to a comfortable 85°C, up to 90°C at its hottest. Pour a little water on the stones for the steam. There’s a simple guide on the wall; it’s easy.

Cooling off

The copper shower

A copper rainfall shower in the courtyard for between sessions; the cold-then-hot cycle is the whole point. Robes and towels are provided in your stay.

The Games Room
