Shane's place was absolutely perfect for our short weekend holiday! The whole place was spotless, the bed was incredibly comfy, and the hot tub was on for us when we arrived.
The views looking over the lough and the hills were gorgeous as well, and there's a small town less than 10 minutes away by car to stock up on all the essentials. Just a bit further out, there's so much of the incredible countryside Donegal is known for, for you to go and explore! Which was great for us, as we also brought our dog along with us. Overall, we had an amazing stay and we will 100% be back again!

Lovely couple of nights in the log cabin. It has everything you would need and the hot tub on the deck is a real treat. Shane's communication is brilliant and plenty useful videos provided in advance.

Stayed 1 night in one of the cabins. Wish we had longer!!! It was a delightful setting. We made use of the hot tub and the fabulous hot (& powerful) shower; we didn’t use the cooking facilities at all but it looked great - complete with airfryer! The location was perfect (hubs golfed and I hiked). I’d highly recommend this spot. We had a lovely dinner in Carrigart (and the Centra there is a one-stop-shop for all your needs!). The nearby Tramore beach is just gorgeous.

Everything was on demand, the hot tub, instant hot water for showers, WiFi, streaming, and modern and comfortable. I was really grateful to be trusted with my two dogs and share my holiday with them. The garden isn't enclosed so would recommend keeping dogs on a lead as its near the road, but the listing doesn't claim to have this, so I expected it. The divide between the two cabins was a nice touch, and the cabins are far enough apart that there's not too much noise overlap, although if I had a problem with noise, I feel like the host would be responsive.

The ideal base for exploring Donegal or a remote trip to switch off. Endless beaches and hikes to take in the stunning scenery and your furry friend getting to enjoy them too thanks to the pet friendly service, friendly local bars to enjoy in the afternoon and finish the evening with a private hot tub in a high spec cabin, perfect!

We really enjoyed our stay at Davey Johns Forge.
Shane’s instructions were very ear making it easy to find the cottage, check ourselves in and make use of all the amenities at the cottage.
We especially loved the large projector screen which made the evenings with our small child very special.

The garden was great for our dog, giving him a safe place to run around while we were there.

Shane’s cabins are incredible. We spent a lot of time searching various properties in the area and Shane’s cabins were by far superior and for a reasonable price.

Shane was proactive and welcoming in his communication, the cabins are beautifully decorated and well kitted out with everything you could need for a remote weekend away.

Endless beaches and beautiful hikes on your doorstep, friendly local bars and a spotless hot tub to enjoy in the evening.

Great facility for dogs also - secure gate and garden area for them.

Shane is a great host, he gave great instructions and was very helpful and kind. He was prompt to respond to any questions we had and was extremely helpful. We all had a great time in the cottage. It is a beautiful home with stunning countryside. The cinema and the hot tub were a great hit.

This was a lovely, cozy cottage with such charm and warmth. I wish we had more time to stay and enjoy it, but it was certainly a welcome respite for our evening and we felt like we’d been welcomed into a true Irish home.

We have stayed here a good few times and have always enjoyed our stay hince why we come back! Always warm and clean. Has everything you need for your stay to make it feel like home. Shane as a host has always be great, check ins and is clear with instructions and on hand should you need anything.

We spent the weekend here for my boyfriends 40th birthday. I don't even think I can put into words how amazing Shane's place is, absolutely everything thought off from TV speakers adapters even down to coffee pods and biscuits. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and even better that he welcomed our wee doggy.

Super Fast & Free WiFi

With Fibre to the home we have some of the fastest internet speeds in Ireland. Last time I checked it was 465 mbps!

Free Parking

There's plenty of parking at Davey John's. Cabin users can park at the top of drive with Cottage guests outside the door.

Bedroom Comforts

We have a King Size bed in the Cabin with a mattress that's 'Hotel Quality'. Fresh linen and towels are provided.

Did we mention the Hot Tub?

Our Hot Tub comes from Softub. The maket leaders in Canada and has to be experienced to be believed. 

Cabin Entertainment

The 42" TV is already connected to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus. The RTE player is availabel too. There's a bluetooth speaker available too if you'd prefer to chill to music.

Pets Welcome

As Dog lovers ourselves, pets are very welcome in the Cabin. We have a dog bed available and a cage if you need to pop out on your own.

Computer Station

iI you need somewhere to work there's a dedicated work station in the Cabin. Just pop up the table and you'll have access to plenty of power sockets and internet access.

Cycling, Golf and Water Sports

We have plenty of bike storage on site along with a set of Golf clubs and a Kayak if you're feeling adventurous.

Horse Riding

We'e spoiled with two excellent riding schools within a 10 minute drive of Davey John's. Carrigart Riding School and Ashfield Riding School are both great!

Cancellation Policy

Full refund for cancellations up to 30 days before check-in. If booked fewer than 30 days before check-in, full refund for cancellations made within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 days before check-in. After that, 50% refund up to 7 days before check-in. No refund after that.
